Here Comes Peter Cottontail

Hopping down the bunny trail!  You were such a big boy getting your picture taken with the Easter Bunny!

April 2012

And you even got an Easter Basket.  And in true Carter fashion, you were more interested in the basket than the goodies IN the basket.

You looked so stinking cute in your Easter outfit.  Much to your daddy's displeasure, you did wear a "baby" outfit for your first Easter.  Don't worry, I won't make you wear "baby" clothes too much longer.  You're getting to be such a big boy!

And you were not at all interested in an Easter photo shoot outside in front of the pretty flowers.  Oh well, don't they say candid shots are the best?

You may look just like mommy, but you are your daddy's son.  A full tummy.....

And after a full tummy and a nice nap, you're ready to move!

Happy Easter Carter Boy!  You made my Easter the happiest!

Se7en

Carter Boy! SLOW DOWN! You're seven months old...going on seven years. Buddy, you're so cute! I enjoyed spending this week at home with you! I could get used to that! I hate that it was because you were sick! So happy to see you feeling better. Terrible upper respiratory infection! Poo poo poo!

You got confused....and made me laugh! You saw me coming with a vile of medicine for a breathing treatment. You stuck out your tongue, then sealed your lips and dodged your face from me! No, no, this is breathing treatment....not the syringe to shoot medicine down your throat then blow in your face!
And I am so proud of you! You've embraced the dinosaur mask for your breathing treatment! Such a big boy! Thank you!

And overnight you starting sitting up all by yourself! Way to go! And crawling....you're catching on. You actually crawled last night! Only a few "steps," but you did it! All by yourself. We all cheered, and you looked at us like we're crazy. Get used to it brother, we're always going to be here rooting you on!

March 4, 2012

I can't say that you captured another piece of my heart yesterday; you already have the whole thing! But you did make my heart swell like a diaper in a swimming pool! Oh, Carter Boy! You're getting the hang of reaching for people and leaning towards people when they're going to hold you. Last night I tried to pass you off to Ma, and you turned from her and clung to me! Twice! Oh sweet Carter Boy! I do love you!

A Whole Half a Year!

You are growing up too fast! (How many times will I start with that line?) You have been with us a whole half a year! And it has been the best half a year of our lives. You have brought so much joy to our home and hearts; we love you to pieces! And I have to say, you're so stinking sweet! I gain weight just by looking at you! And you have the sweetest sugar! (Although I wish you weren't such a rough kisser!  Must you pull my hair when you pull my mouth to yours?)
I promise to try to be a better mommy blogger. But since I haven't been very diligent the past few months, I'll catch you up to speed.

You can roll from side to side now with no trouble at all. Actually, rolling is your primary form of transportation. And you've almost gotten the hang of crawling. You are a master at scooting, but you haven't quite learned to "pick em up and put em down." It won't be long though. Definitely time to babyproof the house!

You are babbling non stop these days; I love it! No "dada" or "mama" yet, but it's coming!
I love how you love to scratch surfaces to hear the sounds. And I absolutely love that gummy, slobbery smile!
You are getting better and better with your hands. And you're smart! You know exactly what that bottle is, and you nearly hyperventilate when you see it; makes me laugh every time.
The other day going to work I glanced in the rear view mirror and could see you. It was still dark, so I could barely see you. I could see your little eyes. And I got teary. It reminded me of the first time you opened your eyes in the NICU. Barely little slits with eyeballs - so precious! You've come so far! I love you!

1, 2, 3, 4, FIVE!

You are a whole five months old!  And I just love this picture of you!

Can't you tell just how I adore you so?

Santa Claus is Coming to Town! December 2011

It is the most wonderful time of the year! Our tree looks great this year - a few new ornaments. I've dated them. Maybe many years from now I'll remember the story behind each ornament.

And the best present of all this year is Carter Boy!

And you are the cutest Santa I have ever seen!

You don't "get" Christmas yet, but how could we not buy you any presents?

And surprisingly, you can tear the wrapping paper...a little. You are getting good at grabbing things.

November 2011

Well, since I could not talk Lee into letting me be a stay at home mom, my days of Hallmark movies, The Golden Girls, Game Show Network, and snuggling all day with you have come to an end. Poo poo poo! I keep telling myself that you're too young to miss me and that you will be ok. I know you'll be in good hands with Mrs. Patsy, but there are no arms like momma's arms! These past ten weeks (the first two were spent in the NICU) have been wonderful! I never knew I could love someone like I do you, Carter Boy!

My sweet little sleeping angel!

On another note, I do not have to report to Dublin tomorrow (November 17, 2011) ! I will be working in EASTMAN! Yes, that is correct! I live on 5th Ave., and the DCSS Office is on 6th Ave.! PTL! Thank you Lord for that blessing!

Turkey Lurkey!
I love thanksgiving food - all the brown, yellow, and orange! And this year we have one more reason to be thankful! Thankful to have Little P celebrate thanksgiving with us! P Pie, this year you licked the strawberry congealed dew and turkey gravy off my finger, but next year, you'll get a plate of your own! I am so thankful for my P Pie!

God has brought me THIS far!
By the way, I think you're so stinking cute in this outfit, but your Daddy hates it!

Happy Thanksgiving from the Peacocks!

That Thing You Do!

I love how you go "ooooh" after you sneeze.
I love how you smell.
I love how you make a bird mouth and roll your eyes at me. (Although, in later years, that attitude will not be tolerated.)
I love how you root around when we're putting the bottle in your mouth.
I love how impatient you are after you burp and before we have a chance to stick the bottle back in your mouth.
I love that you've taught me how to do countless things one handed!
I love you!

I must not be living right....

Oh my! What a handfull! The first few days at home were glorious! If anything good came out of your stay in the NICU, they had you on a clockwork schedule!  But then, that Sunday night, it all went downhill. At bedtime you got upset, and you didn't get happy again! And what is all this grunting? I was terrified.  You just grunted and squirmed and cried. Oh it was terrible. My nerves became quickly shot.  You cried and I cried. Lee and I had about decided you are going to be an only child!

Thankfully, about week ten you smiled again! At you two month check up you weighed in at 12 pounds and 10 ounces! Getting to be a big boy! Dr. Peeples also recommended we add rice cereal to your milk. And he prescribed acid reflux/indigestion medicine.  You became a different baby! For the good! I was beginning to think you just didn't like us.

Look!  A smile!  And you look just like my baby pictures!

I just love this pictue of you!  So solemn, but so stinking cute!

We still haven't mastered sleeping in your own bed yet, but we'll get there....some day....some year.....

Baby Boy Peacock, Bed 7

Baby Boy Peacock, bed 7.  I'll be ok if I never have to say those words again! Oh, can't we just skip this chapter? No, we can't. Because they are a part of our lives now. The two weeks you spent in the NICU changed me...forever. That whole experience was something I have never imagined, and mothers who have never been there cannot relate. It puts you into a special category. Special, meaning extraordinary, not the good kind of special.

My little man, lying there helpless. Broke my heart...over and over...every time I look at you. Tubes, wires, machines, beeps, drips, needles, everywhere. This isn't fair. Babies shouldn't have to be sick! And I don't even like hospitals or bloods, guts, and gore!

Thankfully, we had fabulous nurses in the nursery. They never minded our endless visits or calls. And for someone who doesn't do needles and hospitals, I did pretty good. I learned what beeps were important and what buttons to push to hush the non-important beeps. I learned to tube feed, change diapers, bottle feed, check temperatures, change clothes...all the good stuff! And finally after a week of a chest drain tube, the tube was removed AND I CAN HOLD MY BABY!! I couldn't get enough of you! I would just sit and hold you all day! Pure bliss!

August 27, 2012
I changed my first diaper and I fed you your first milk meal!

You have already stolen my heart!

I am wireless!  Look at that beautiful face!

Finally, after 13 days, Dr. Rodriguez said you could come home to momma and daddy!  Praise the Lord!

Happy Birthday Carter Lee Peacock

YOU HAVE ARRIVED!  FIVE AND A HALF WEEKS EARLY! Oh gee, are you already that much like your mommy?  In a hurry for everything?  Well, I must say, your early arrival left me no time to get scared.  I will spare you all my labor and delivery details.  That is a night I will never forget.  So, if you want to know one day, I'll share.

It all seemed surreal to me.  I couldn't believe I was holding my precious baby boy!  I was able to hold you only a few seconds, then you had to go to the nursery.  But those few seconds were heaven on earth!  You were the cutest, stickiest, cheesiest baby ever!  Sorry I don't have all the happy birthing pictures to prove it.  One, we didn't have a camera.  When we went to the ER that night I wasn't sure if my water had broken or I had wet the bed.  And two, no cameras allowed. :)  Just trust me, you're the prettiest little boy ever!

And even with all the tubes, wires, and machines, you're still the cutest little boy ever! August 24,2011, at 8:29am my life was forever changed! My 6 pound, 12 ounce, 19 inch long, head full of blonde hair bundle of joy was born! Happy Birthday my Carter Boy!
